The weekend is just around the corner and everyone is looking forward to Valentine's Day. It's President's Day on Monday too. Let's talk about things to do in Lake County, Florida this weekend!

Thursday, February 13, 2020 - Saturday, February 15, 2020:

  • It's the 13th Annual Tractor Show at Paquette's Historical Farmall Museum in Leesburg. Admission from 8 am - 5 pm is $20 per person daily with children 9 and under admitted free. There will be daily tractor pulls at 1 pm. On Thursday in the Showbarn from 6-8 pm, you can enjoy "For the Love of Cash" featuring Gary West for $20. On Friday from 6-8 pm, there is a BBQ dinner and The Baileys Bluegrass Band in the Showbarn for $17. On Saturday, the Showbarn presents Annie & The Orphans for a 50's and 60's Rock n' Roll Dance from 6-9 pm for $18. Call for tickets to any of their special evening events.

Friday, February 14, 2020:

  • Are you an artist or are you interested in art? The Leesburg Center for the Arts is hosting Art Create Friday (formerly called Open Studio) from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon. Join with fellow artists for a combination of a project based "open studio" concept and a "come as you are and create what you want" space. Share tips and techniques and have fun at this free event for members and their guests. Afterwards, stick around for Coffee & Convos in the Gallery from 12:00 noon - 1:30 pm to discuss Celebrating Our Roots, sharing stories of our heritage, facilitated by Patricia Gilbert & Susan Fink.

  • Every 2nd Friday, Mount Dora hosts Art in the Alley, with original art, handmade goods, music, and more. The downtown galleries will have extended hours and free admission. Begin by getting an Art in the Alley map from The Mount Dora Center for the Arts Gallery, have your map punched at each of the gallery stops, and return with your completed map to the Gatehouse Gallery at the Lakeside Inn for your chance to win a special prize. Galleries will be open from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and the sidewalk artists and musicians will be there until 9:00 pm.

  • It's Movie on the Lawn Night in Fruitland Park! Bring your blankets and chairs and they'll bring the movie this evening from 6 - 8:30 pm. Lady & The Tramp will begin at approximately 6:30 pm.

  • Enjoy an extravagant evening at Mount Dora Plaza Live for Valentines with Dean Martin & Friends. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show begins at 7 pm. There will be special guest appearances by Marilyn Monroe and Linda Cole (niece of Nat King Cole). Tickets can be purchased online and are $65 per person including a buffet dinner. There will be a cash bar available all evening.

  • The Mardi Gras Crowning Ball, a ticketed event, will take place this evening from 7 pm - midnight at the new Venetian Center. You'll find out who the new King Rex and Queen Divine will be and you'll enjoy live music from Kai Alece Band plus a catered buffet, cash bar, and contests. Tickets in advance are $60 or are $75 at the door.

  • Take in a romantic evening of Love, Love, Love - All You Need is Love, Beatle Music by Beatlebeat at the Mount Dora Community Building beginning at 7 pm. General admission is $20, VIP seating (a few remain) is $30, and Bargain seats are $10. Tickets can be purchased in advance on their website.

Friday, February 14, 2020 - Sunday, February 16, 2020:

  • The Moonlight Players Theatre in Clermont presents The Drowsy Chaperone on Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and on Sunday at 2:30 pm (this is the final weekend). When Mrs. Tottenham hosts the wedding of the year, she gets a lot more than a write-up in the society pages: Janet Van de Graaff, glittering starlet of Feldzieg's Follies, is leaving the stage for love. Hijinks ensue." Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students, or $10 for children and can be purchased on their website.

  • The Bay Street Players in Eustis present The Fantasticks on Friday at 8 pm and on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm (this is the final weekend). Here's a description from their website: "A whimsical, poignant, and romantic production is an allegorical story that focuses on two young lovers, their meddling fathers, and the journey we all must take through adolescent thrills: the growing pains of hurt and betrayal, the highs of passion, the challenges of distance, and the agonies of heartbreak to discover how to truly love." Tickets are $11 with student ID or $21 for adults and can be purchased on their website.


Lake County Florida what to do this weekend Mardi Gras Leesburg

Saturday, February 15, 2020:

  • If you're interested in learning to kayak or paddle, come out to Hammond Lake for a History Paddle & Kayak Lesson from 10 am - noon. The guided kayak tour begins with 15-20 minutes of instruction for new paddlers while experienced paddlers enjoy some exploration time. Your guide will share the history of the lake plus will discuss the important people and eras that played a critical role in the history of the park and Clermont. You can use one of their single kayaks for $40, or you can bring your own kayak for $25 per person (tandems or single). Reserve your spot online. .

  • Today is the Mardi Gras Party in the Street in downtown Leesburg. There will be 12 hours of Mardi Gras madness from 11 am - 11 pm, all day entertainment, street performers, festive foods, cash bars, vendors, bungee jumping, inflatables, pony rides, carnival games, and three parades (Kids at 11 am, Pets at 2 pm, and the Main Parade at 7 pm).

  • Tonight is the Wine Stroll in Clermont hosted by Corelli's Pantry. Taste 15 wines plus shop with them or their neighbors. There will be live music outside. Tickets are $15 per person and include a wrist band and map of participating stores.

  • Come out to Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont for a Sunset Trail Ride, a one hour guided horseback trail ride beginning at 6 pm. You'll be able to ride on their friendly horses provided you are at least 8 years old. Each rider will receive a glow stick bracelet or necklace, and no previous riding experience is required. The price is $60 per person and does not include the state park admission charge of $5 per vehicle. Reserve your spot online.
