There's Plenty to Do in Lake County, Florida!

Today, we're going to focus on a few of the websites I've found while searching for fun things to do in Lake County. You may be familiar with some of these, but I was really surprised at how much some of these sites have recently changed.

Visit Lake: Real Florida, Real Close

This website provides a lot of great information for visitors and locals alike. The Play section includes ecotourism options like hiking, biking, parks, water tours, and blueway trails for canoeists and kayakers. You can find information about fishing, birdwatching, adventures (indoor, outdoor, & sightseeing), golfing, agritourism (farm tours, u-pick), equestrian (attractions, trails, & riding), arts & museums, entertainment, antiques, shopping, spas, and kids zone kid friendly things to do. There's a section called Stay that lists places for people to stay when they come to Lake County (hotels, resorts, bed & breakfasts, vacation rentals, cabins, & campgrounds). There's a Dine section that lists places to eat and breweries to visit. The Events section lists upcoming events in the county. If you click Explore, you'll have access to a map which is broken down into the sections of Lake County: Forest Gateway, Northwest Lake, Golden Triangle, and South Lake. The Plan section helps you to plan out your activities and provides you with suggested itineraries to follow. There is a lot of good information on this site - it's worth checking out if you're not familiar with it.

Tripadvisor's Things to Do in Lake County

When I think of Tripadvisor, I think of it for seeing how others review hotels and restaurants that I'm considering visiting. There's a lot more to it than that! The Things to Do section allows you to browse by category within Lake County for things to do: museums, nature & parks, bodies of water, farms, nature & wildlife areas, parks, outdoor activities, sights & landmarks, shopping, and hiking trails. If you prefer to view things to do by city, you'll see many of the popular cities & towns listed in Lake County where people can find fun things to do. The nice thing about using Tripadvisor for finding things to do is the reviews that I always like to check out on hotels and restaurants also exist on things to do. So if I'm considering going to, say, Paquette's Historical Farmall Tractor Museum, I can read all of the reviews about it (there were 84 when I checked) and see that it's rated as a 5 out of 5 on their ratings scale. If you're interested in checking out a different restaurant other than your normal spots, it's a good idea to read the reviews on places you may want to try.

Fun 4 Lake Kids

I found this website by accident as I was putting together a post for my blog - what a wealth of information it has, especially if you have kids! You can find all sorts of things to do with your children, including holiday lights displays, where you can find Santa, holiday parades, and holiday events. There are sections that list camp options (but there were none last I checked), education & childcare resources, fun around town options (again, the focus is on fun places to take kids), health resources, parties & events, pregnancy & baby resources, programs & classes, sports programs, stores & services, and what's happening in our area. If you're willing to travel a bit, there are links to other "Fun 4" sites as well (Ocala, Orlando, and Daytona Beach are directly listed - when you click on one of them, you may find additional places as well).
