The temperatures are warming up nicely for this upcoming weekend. Don't forget to adjust your clocks - daylight savings time begins on Sunday early morning at 2 am. Take advantage of the warm weather and check out some of these options for things to do this weekend in Lake County, Florida:


Thursday, March 11, 2021 - Saturday, March 13, 2021

  • Founders Weekend in Groveland: Groveland is celebrating 99 years and is hosting a series of free, socially distanced anniversary events where masks are encouraged. Thursday at 7:00 pm is the South Lake High School Wind Symphony Concert. On Friday from 5:00 - 9:00 pm is the Second Friday Farmer's Market where there will be live musical performances by Yesterdayze at 5:00 pm and then Maiden Cane at 7:30 pm, with food trucks and vendors. Saturday's events will include the Groveland Museum Expo from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, a retirement ceremony for Chief Willie Morgan at 2:00 pm, water skier viewing from noon - 5:00 pm (the Great Groveland Barefoot Laps Challenge), and multiple live performances throughout the day.   • Spring Break Outdoor Movie Night: Southern Hill Farms (16651 Schofield Road, Clermont) is hosting their first Spring Break Outdoor Movie Night which will feature The Secret Life of Pets 2. Gates open at 5:30 pm and the movie begins at 7:30 pm and lasts until approximately 9:30 pm. Come early to enjoy the yard games, covered playground, and fire pits with s'mores. Bring blankets or folding chairs to sit and watch the movie on the lawn. Non-refundable, non-transferable tickets are $7.50 + $2.08 = $9.58 per person. No pets or outside food or beverages permitted (there will be food and drinks available for purchase there).

  • Plaid in the Park: Celtic dancers and music will be the focus of Plaid in the Park in Sunset Park (230 W. 4th Avenue), Mount Dora from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Visitors are encouraged to bring your kilt, your family, and immerse yourself in Scottish food, drink, and entertainment.

  • Friday Night at the Black Box: Ron Feingold of Clermont combines stand-up comedy and a cappella music as he headlines this week's Friday Night at the Black Box at the Clermont Performing Arts Center. Ron is joined by comedian John Charles and comedian / emcee Erick Lutz. The show begins at 8 pm and tickets are available through the link for $15 per person.

  • Spring Wildflower Hike: enjoy exploring the trails of Ellis Acres Reserve (25302 County Road 42, Paisley) beginning at 9:00 am searching for early blooming species and learning about the native plants of Florida while searching for the species that inhabit the area. Make reservations following the link above for this free activity.


Saturday, March 13, 2021 - Sunday, March 14, 2021

  • Lake Ridge Winery - Weekends at the Winery: here's a fun weekly event where you can enjoy the expansive vineyard green, delicious food from food trucks, wine, and music. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs this weekend on Saturday from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm or on Sunday from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm; live entertainment, food trucks, and the wine bar will be going from noon - 4:00 pm. Saturday's entertainer will be Theo Moon, and Sunday will feature Jeff Whitfield. You can check out the list of food trucks on their website.


Sunday, March 14, 2021

  • Mount Dora Village Market: this event begins at 9:00 am, ends at 2:00 pm, and features local vendors. You can find fresh vegetables, cheese, eggs, seafood, bread, and crafts. This weekly event is held at Sunset Park, 230 W. 4th Avenue, Mount Dora.

  • Barn Tour & Baby Goat Snuggle Session: from 3:00 - 4:00 pm, The Lazy H (23708 County Road 44a) in Eustis will allow ticketed guests to come in for an hour to spend time meeting and greeting their farm animals. Guests are encouraged to bring carrots to feed the horses! Admission is $10 per person with children under 1 admitted free. Add on a pony ride for $5 per rider (cash only). Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance; a limited number are available.

  • Exploration Hike: meet up with staff at the PEAR Park Gateway for an early evening hike exploring parts of PEAR Park. The address is 26701 US Highway 27, Leesburg, and the hike begins at 5:00 pm. Be sure to make reservations for this free event.
