Here are some options for what to do in Lake County and nearby:


Friday, March 5, 2021

  • Exploration Hike at Ferndale Preserve: meet up with the staff at 8:00 am to explore the ecosystems and species of Ferndale Preserve at this free event - reserve online. Ferndale Preserve is located at 19220 County Road 455, Ferndale.

  • Clermont - First Friday Food Trucks: every first Friday, Clermont hosts its monthly food truck extravaganza. Stroll through downtown, enjoy food from various vendors, and enjoy the music of Otis and the Old School Band from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. The event is held at 685 W. Montrose Street, Clermont.

  • Eustis - First Friday Street Party: every first Friday, Eustis hosts its monthly street party from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. This family friendly event features food, vendors, and live music in Historic Downtown Eustis. Flaming Ginger will be featured with shows at 6:45 and 8:00 pm. Admission is free, food and drinks available for purchase.

  • Clermont Performing Arts Center - The Celtic Angels: enjoy the music, dancing, and stirring songs of Ireland beginning a 7:30 pm. You can purchase tickets online for $20 - $35 for this event where you will feel as if you are journeying through Ireland.


Friday, March 5, 2021 - Sunday, March 7, 2021

  • Thundering Spirit Pow Wow: this event features Native American culture including drumming, dancing, crafts, and foods. Bring blankets or chairs to sit on for these all day events. Tickets for adults are $7 or a three day pass is $10. Children under 12, and active / retired service personnel are free. This event is held at Renninger's Twin Markets, 20651 New Highway 441, Mount Dora.


Saturday, March 6, 2021

  • The Quarterly Bird & Butterfly Survey: your help is needed assisting park staff with surveying the birds and butterflies that live in Lake County's conservation lands. Those with and without experience are welcome; bring your own binoculars. Reserve online in advance, meet at 7:30 am at Pasture Reserve, 5144 Lake Erie Road, Groveland.

  • Trout Lake Nature Center - First Saturday Bird and Nature Walk: join a knowledgeable guide from 8:00 - 9:00 am and learn about resident birds at Trout Lake. Reserve in advance for the walk that begins in the parking lot and includes a walk to the lake. Bring your binoculars, mask, and plan to social distance. The $5 donation benefits the center and the group size is limited to 10, so be sure to reserve your spot.

  • The Spring Wildflower Hike: explore the trails and demonstration gardens at PEAR Park and watch for Florida native wildflowers and pollinators at this free event. Make your reservations and plan on meeting at 9:00 am at PEAR Park WCA, 4800 University Avenue, Leesburg.

  • Big Orange Day: the Umatilla Chamber of Commerce is hosting this family friendly event which will feature vendors, food trucks, live music, games, plus a BBQ and chili cookoff. Be sure to check out the kids zone, face painting, and petting zoo. The day begins at 1:00 pm with live music from 3:00 - 8:00 pm and the cookoffs beginning at 5:00 pm (admission to the cookoffs is $10 per adult, $5 for students, and children 4 and under are admitted free). The event is held at Sunsational Farms, 40541 Roger Giles Road, Umatilla.


Saturday, March 6, 2021 - Sunday, March 7, 2021

  • Lake Ridge Winery - Weekends at the Winery: here's a fun weekly event where you can enjoy the expansive vineyard green, delicious food from food trucks, wine, and music. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs this weekend on Saturday from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm or on Sunday from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm; live entertainment, food trucks, and the wine bar will be going from noon - 4:00 pm. Saturday's entertainers will be the Dave Capp and France Neil Duo, and Sunday will feature Phil and Mike's Music. You can check out the list of food trucks on their website.


Sunday, March 7, 2021

  • Mount Dora Village Market: this event begins at 9:00 am, ends at 2:00 pm, and features local vendors. You can find fresh vegetables, cheese, eggs, seafood, bread, and crafts. This weekly event is held at Sunset Park, 230 W. 4th Avenue, Mount Dora.

  • Florida History - Fossils to People: learn about Florida's rich history and study some archaeology while hiking with staff, beginning at 10:00 am at Ferndale Preserve, 19220 County Road 455, Ferndale. Be sure to make reservations for this free event.

  • Howie Mansion Music Series - 80's Mixtape Mayhem - Jazz on the Lawn: this lawn concert features Michelle Mailhot and has you enjoying 80's pop hits twisted into new tunes. Tickets are $23 per person in advance and can be purchased on their website or purchase tickets there for $25 each. The Howey Mansion is located at 1001 Citrus Avenue, Howey in the Hills.
