Welcome back to our Wednesday post detailing fun events and happenings coming up this weekend here in Lake County, Florida. Here are a few suggestions of what to do beginning on Friday, September 27 and ending on Sunday, September, 29:
Friday, September 27, 2019:
If you are into following Bob Ross and enjoy his work, consider signing up for this Bob Ross Style Painting class at the Artrageous Art Gallery in Leesburg. For $55 including supplies, you'll paint a seascape with palm trees and a wave, taught by a certified Bob Ross instructor.
Friday, September 27, 2019 - Sunday, September 29, 2019:
Ahoy mateys - it's Pirate Weekend in Mount Dora! There's a free Pirate Party on Friday at the Magical Meat Boutique, free Pirate Karaoke on Saturday at Las Palmas Cuban Restaurant, and pirates galore plus a pirate village at the Mount Dora Seafood Festival (see below).
Saturday, September 28, 2019:
Enjoy wandering through the Art & Craft Festival at La Plaza Grande in the Villages. Shop handcrafted leather goods, pictures, personalized items, and more. You'll be able to visit with the crafters who made the items. Best of all, it's free to attend!
There is a Senior Expo & Health Fair in Clermont. The theme this year is "Wellness Rocks" and there will be free screenings, live entertainment, door prizes, giveaways, and a Tai Chi demonstration on stage. Vendors will include health care providers, insurances, DMV mobile, the Department of Health, the Lake County Sheriff, and more. Another free event to consider on Saturday!
The 4th Annual Craft Beer Fest, Brutoberfest, takes place in Tavares at the Bru Tap House on Saturday. VIP admission is $59.40 and general admission is $43.47 per person including tax if purchased in advance ($5 + tax higher on the day of the show). Designated driver tickets are $15 and are available at the Bru Tap House. There will be more than 40 breweries, unlimited tastings of 80+ beers, and live music.
Halloween is fast approaching, so get ready for the Mount Dora Ghost Tour! For $30, you'll go on a 90 minute tour with a "dead funny and morbidly eccentric tour guide!" The tour begins at Sunset Park and travels to the Lakeside Inn, a 136 year old hotel.
If you like classic cars, check out the Downtown Eustis Cruise In which takes place every 4th Saturday of the month. There will be music, shopping, dining, prizes, and lots of cars and trucks.
Visionary Republic is putting on a Clean Comedy Show featuring Demetrius Wheeler, Dusty Lewis, Chicken George, Steven G, & Chinzel Love Jones. You'll also enjoy a live band performance at this Eustis show. Tickets are $15 each or a table of 10 is $125.
Saturday, September 28, 2019 & Sunday, September 29, 2019:
Check out the Mount Dora Seafood Festival at Simpson's Cove & Mount Dora Marina & Boating Center. This waterfront rain or shine event promises two days of fresh seafood, exhibitors, specialty food items, live music. This is a family friendly, free event will have pirates & mermaids, the Central Florida Oyster Shuck Off, boat rides, a free kids zone, shark ride, crafters, and rum tasting. Sunday, September 29, 2019:
Another fun pre-Halloween event is the Royal Palm Ghost Train - Phantasmagoria! Every Sunday at 3:45 and 6:15 pm, the Victorian horror troupe will present its own unique ghostly storytelling during this 80 minute train ride. Tickets are $38 per person.
The Animal League of the Central Florida Humane Society is having its 4th Annual Puttin' Fore Paws Golf Tournament at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey in the Hills. Price per person is $80 in advance or $90 on the day of the event including golf, lunch, and prizes. Non-golfers can enjoy lunch for $25 and support this worthwhile cause.
