A few days back, I did a post about traveling back home for the holidays. Today, I'm focusing on options for where you can go for dinner if you're staying here. Prefer to eat at home? There are choices listed below for fully cooked meals that you can bring home in advance and reheat.
Options for Dining Out on Thanksgiving:
Mission Inn, Howey in the Hills: this is my personal favorite. To accommodate the crowds this year, both La Hacienda and Nicker's Restaurants are hosting their Thanksgiving Grand Brunch Buffet from 11:00 am - 5:45 pm for $54.99 per guest, $22.99 for children aged 5-12, and free for children aged 4 or less plus service charge and tax. Reservations are required and you can make them by calling 1-352-324-3930. There will be all sorts of salads, soups, antipasto, fruits / cheeses, seafoods, breakfast dishes, chef's carving stations with prime rib and turkey, stuffings, entrees, sides, and desserts including their signature bread pudding with bourbon sauce and bananas foster. Adults receive endless champagne & mimosas with their meal.
1921 Mount Dora: Thanksgiving Dinner will be served from noon - 6 pm (the time of the final seating) and can be reserved at 1-352-385-1921. Dinner includes your choice of turkey or ham, fixings, and dessert for $55 per person.
The Lakeside Inn, Mount Dora: they too are featuring a dinner buffet this year but I didn't see the hours listed. They recommend calling for reservations at 1-352-383-4101. Adults are $59.95 and children aged 6-12 are $32.95 plus tax and service charge. Included will be soups, salads, appetizers, seafood, carved items including prime rib, ham, and turkey, sides, breads, and desserts.
Demshar's in the Villages: they are offering a Thanksgiving buffet for $39 + tax & gratuity per person. Reservations are required and can be made at 1-352-633-3007. The buffet includes salads, soup, antipasto, seafoods, breakfast options, carving station with beef & turkey, entrees, sides, and desserts.
Glenview Country Club in the Villages: dinner is served from noon - 8 pm for $35. Reservations are required and can be made at 1-352-753-0077. Your meal includes a salad, choice of entree with sides as listed (turkey, ham, prime rib, salmon, or chicken sorrentino), and dessert.
Harbor Hills Country Club in Lady Lake: they are offering a Thanksgiving buffet from 11 am - 4 pm. Reservations are required and can be made at 1-352-753-7000. The price is $35.95 for adults or $13.95 for children aged 6-10 plus service charge and tax and includes breakfast options, carving table with turkey, ham, and prime rib, hot dishes, salad bar, and desserts. Add on bottomless mimosas for $8.
Havana Country Club in the Villages: dinner is being served and reservations can be made at 1-352-430-3200. Entrees choices (turkey, ham, prime rib, grouper, lobster tails, or lamb shank) range from $24.99 - $34.99 and include salad and sides. Add on dessert for $8. Children's meal options for those 12 and under are $12.
Options for Ordering and Picking Up a Pre-Cooked Thanksgiving Meal to Enjoy at Home:
Publix, Various Locations: A fully cooked turkey dinner that serves 7-10 is $49.99 including a 10-12 pound fully cooked turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, marshmallow delight, and cranberry orange relish. Reheating will take up to 135 minutes for some items. If you have a larger group, a fully cooked turkey dinner that serves 14-18 is $89.99 including a 16-18 pound turkey with all of the same sides as listed above (this meal takes up to 150 minutes to reheat).
The Fresh Market in the Villages: A traditional holiday meal that serves 8-10 is $79.99 including a 10-12 pound fully cooked turkey, whipped potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry relish, and dinner rolls. Reheating is required and may take 1-3 hours. A deluxe holiday meal that serves 12-14 is $149.99 including all of the previous selections, a 3 pound boneless ham, a corn souffle, and green beans. You can order these options and additional items by the pound as well all from their website.
Cracker Barrel, Various Locations: A Heat n' Serve Holiday Family Meal to Go that serves up to 10 is $124.99 including two oven roasted turkey breasts, dressing, gravy, cranberry relish, choice of three sides (each serves 10), sweet rolls, and two pies (pumpkin & pecan). A smaller Homestyle Turkey n' Dressing Family Meal to Go is $74.99.
Denny's, Various Locations: New this year, Denny's is offering a meal for 4 called a Dinner Park. It includes a carved turkey breast, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and a choice of side (broccoli or southwest creamed corn) for $37.99 (this was the price at the location I checked). It comes with reheating instructions and you can add on a pie for $8.99 (pumpkin or pecan).
Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!
