Mastering Technology: Free Classes for Adults & Seniors in Lake County, Florida

Android Smartphone & Tablet Users:


Android Basics: Bring your fully charged Android smartphone or tablet to this workshop that deals with Android devices only. Newer Android users will build up their skills and learn battery management, settings, updates, apps, browsers, security, and other things needed for using an Android device. Register in advance at the Leesburg Public Library (100 E. Main Street) or call 352-728-9790 x3. The class is being held in their second-floor technology lab on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 10 am - 12 noon.


Android 101: Just the Basics: If you're interested in learning just the basics of using an Android device, including Google Suite, icons, device, security, and more, register for this class by calling 352-753-2957. It takes place at the Lady Lake Public Library (225 W. Guava Street) on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon.


Beginning Android: Be sure to bring your fully charged Android device to this class where you will learn about using Google Voice Search, email, maps, Google GPS, Google Play, and more. Registration is required and you can register online beginning on 6/20/24. The class will take place on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 10:30 am - 12 noon at the W.T. Bland Memorial Library in Mount Dora (1995 N. Donnelly Street).

Apple iPhone & iPad Users:


Basic iPhone / iPad Class: Join the Geek Squad from Best Buy on the 4th Friday of each month at the Lady Lake Public Library (225 W. Guava Street) to teach and assist with basic Apple device usage. Advance registration is not required. This occurs on Friday, June 28, 2024, or Friday, July 26, 2024, from 9:30 - 11:00 am.


Basic iPhone / iPad Usage: Every 2nd Friday of the month, the Geek Squad from Best Buy will be at the Lady Lake Public Library (225 W. Guava Street) to help you understand the basics of your Apple device. Advance registration is not required. Join them on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 9:30 - 11:00 am.


Beginning iPad & iPhone: Learn the basics of operating your Apple device (fully charged please) at this monthly class that takes place at the W.T. Bland Memorial Library in Mount Dora (1995 N. Donnelly Street) on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 10:30 am - 12:00 noon. Advanced registration is required and it begins online on 6/26/24.


iPhone / iPad Basics: Bring your fully charged iPhone or iPad to this workshop that deals with Apple devices only. Whether you're unsure of how to use your device or you feel like you know some but want to know more, this is a session you won't want to miss! eBooks and More: Did you know that you can access all sorts of reading material from your smartphone or tablet? This workshop will teach you how to access eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, movies, documentaries, albums, and more on your smartphone or tablet. You'll download free library apps for the Cloud Library, Flipster, Kanopy, and Hoopla and you'll become familiar with how to use them to find what you're looking to enjoy. Bring your fully charged device and your library card, plus make sure you know your usernames and passwords. If you have an Apple device, know your Apple ID and password. YouTube Basics: Did you know YouTube has more than 37 million channels?  Learn how to find content you enjoy, subscribe to channels, and how to watch videos on your device. Register for this workshop online in advance. It takes place at the W.T. Bland Memorial Library in Mount Dora (1995 N. Donnelly Street) from 10:30 am – 12 noon on Friday, June 21, 2024.

Computer Users (both Desktop and Laptop):


Computer Basics: If you want to learn about using a desktop or laptop computer, sign up for this class - you can register online through this link. You'll learn about hardware, software, general usage, settings, functions, and how to browse the Internet safely. Become a more confident user of technology! This class takes place on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 10:30 am - 12 noon at the W.T. Bland Memorial Library in Mount Dora (1995 N. Donnelly Street). They will have computers there for hands-on practice.


Microsoft Excel Basics: If you want to learn how to use and work with Excel, this class is for you. You'll learn about how to use spreadsheets to organize numbers and text.  The class takes place at the W.T. Bland Memorial Library in Mount Dora (1995 N. Donnelly Street) from 10:30 am – 12 noon on Thursday, July 18, 2024. PCs are provided.


Microsoft Word Basics: If you want to learn how to use and work with Word documents, sign up for this class. You'll learn about working with templates, formatting, inserting pictures, tables, page layout, printing, and more.  The class takes place at the W.T. Bland Memorial Library in Mount Dora (1995 N. Donnelly Street) from 10:30 am – 12 noon on Thursday, June 20, 2024. PCs are provided.
